A technical issue is anticipated to cause several planned hospital treatments and outpatient visits in Nottingham to be postponed.
On Wednesday evening, Nottingham University Hospitals announced the IT problem on social media.
It claimed to have hampered clinical decision-making and delayed patient release.
It was also generating long ambulance waits and overcrowding in the hospital’s emergency room, according to the hospital.
Nottingham University Hospitals said the IT problem was hampering its capacity to process and report on blood samples.
It stated that further measures had been taken to ensure the safety of services.
This involved hiring more people and enlisting the help of health and social care partners.
The hospital declared: We anticipate that some scheduled outpatient appointments and procedures will need to be postponed tomorrow.
We regret for the inconvenience and will contact those patients immediately, the business said.
It said that the emergency room was still open, but that only people with injuries or conditions that could put their lives in danger should go there.
